Product Marketing (Full-time, Part-time, or Contract — Remote)

Note: This position has been filled. However, if you’re enthusiastic about working with us and feel that you’d be a good fit, we still encourage you to apply. At worst, we’ll keep your resume on file for the future, and at best we may decide that you’re so promising that we should create a new opening for you. 😀

About the Position

We’re looking for help with a wide variety of marketing projects. We will consider hiring the following:

  • A marketing generalist looking for a full or part-time job with a broad range of responsibilities.
  • Marketing freelancers or agencies that are interested in tackling one or more marketing projects on a contract basis (see below for a list).

To date, all of the marketing for AnyList has been handled by our co-founders, Jeff and Jason. As we continue to grow, this is no longer sustainable, so we’re looking for someone who can help us promote AnyList and explain its benefits to the largest possible audience.

About AnyList

AnyList is the one app you need for stress-free shopping, cooking, and meal-planning. AnyList makes it simple to create and share shopping lists, collect and organize your recipes, and schedule and prepare meals so you can spend less time planning life and more time enjoying it.

We’ve been featured by Apple numerous times and have been recommended by The New York Times. AnyList has millions of customers around the world, and tens of thousands of five-star reviews on the App Store and Google Play.

We’re a small, remote team committed to creating real, tangible value for our customers. We believe in keeping simple things simple and making complex things possible. We place a high priority on the quality and utility of our product, not simply filling up a feature checklist or chasing the latest trends.

As a company, we’re focused on sustainable growth and are committed to the app for the long haul.

What You’ll Do

These are some of the projects we’d like to tackle. If you’re a freelancer or an agency, then we’d be interested in working with you on specific projects where you have relevant experience. If you’re a marketing generalist looking for a full-time or part-time role, then ideally you’ll have relevant experience in at least some of these areas, and the desire and ability to learn new skills to help with projects you may not have worked on before.

  • Produce engaging copy and graphical assets for our email newsletter and blog.
  • Create compelling screenshots and promotional assets for the App Store, Google Play, our website, and social media
  • Create video content promoting AnyList and explaining and demonstrating key features and benefits of the app.
  • Analyze our website, onboarding emails, and other marketing channels and make necessary updates.
  • Review and sometimes answer customer inquiries via email, using our help desk software, to help keep your finger on the pulse of customer feedback.
  • Identify gaps in our documentation and create new support articles for our knowledge base with text, image, and video content that demonstrates how to use AnyList.
  • Research and execute upon opportunities for improved SEO and ASO (App Store Optimization) to drive more organic downloads of our app.
  • Review analytics and identify key metrics for measuring the success of our marketing efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for audience-specific email campaigns (e.g., new purchasers of AnyList Complete, recently lapsed subscribers, etc.)
  • Explore opportunities for better in-app messaging to inform customers of features they may not have known about.
  • Perform a cost - benefit analysis of promoting AnyList on social media and through various paid marketing channels (App Store ads, Google Adwords, podcasts, influencer marketing, etc.)
  • Use your marketing expertise to tell the co-founders what projects are missing from this list. :-)

Requirements

  • Excellent English language writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to be productive while working remotely with minimal supervision.
  • For freelancers & agencies: relevant marketing experience in the projects you’d like to tackle.
  • For a full-time or part-time marketing generalist: relevant marketing experience in at least some of the areas where we need help, and the desire and ability to learn new skills to help with marketing tasks you may not have tackled before.
  • A working understanding of mobile and web apps and the ability to use office productivity software.
  • Ideally, you’ll be familiar with AnyList and use it personally. If not, then a willingness to dive into the app and come up to speed quickly.
  • We’re a small company and this is a broad role. Enthusiasm counts for a lot, so if you’re excited about this position then we encourage you to apply even if your past experience doesn’t seem like a perfect fit.

Benefits

  • Flexible location. You can work from home, or anywhere with a reliable Internet connection.
  • Flexible schedule. You’ll need to coordinate with AnyList’s co-founders, which will involve some scheduled meetings, but you’ll have a high degree of flexibility in choosing your work hours.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • No corporate bureaucracy. We’re a small company, and you’ll be working directly with the founders.

If you’d like to apply, then please send an email to jobs-marketing@anylist.com with a copy of your resume and your answers to the following questions:
